This year marks an important moment in the history of Community Home Trust. In 2026, we proudly celebrate both our 35th anniversary and a major milestone: the creation of more than 300 permanently affordable homes through our community land trust model.

These achievements are the result of decades of partnership, vision, and shared commitment to ensuring our community remains a place where people of all backgrounds can live, work, raise families, and contribute to the community’s future. Most importantly, they reflect the homeowners whose lives and stories are at the heart of this work.

To honor these milestones, we are proud to celebrate alongside our municipal partners; Chapel Hill, Carrboro, and Hillsborough, each of which has proclaimed a “CHT Day” in June.

We are deeply grateful to all three towns, and to Orange County, for their longstanding partnership and investment in affordable housing. Their leadership and continued support have helped make attainable homeownership possible for hundreds of families while strengthening the fabric of our community for generations to come.

Community Home Trust’s success has always been built on collaboration between homeowners, local leaders, advocates, and neighbors who believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to put down roots and thrive. As we celebrate this recognition, we also celebrate the people who make this mission meaningful every day.

We hope you will join us on June 18 for our CHT Day Community Open House as we celebrate this shared accomplishment and the collective commitment that continues to make our community more inclusive and vibrant.

With gratitude,

P.S. We’d also love for you to join us at the Chapel Hill Town Council meeting on Wednesday, May 20 at 6 p.m. at Chapel Hill Town Hall, where the Council will officially proclaim June 18 as CHT Day. We’ll be there to celebrate the proclamation and thank the Town of Chapel Hill for its longstanding partnership and commitment to affordable housing.
