The Foundation of Home Awards
Last week, we were honored to host the Foundation of Home Awards Dinner, a special evening celebrating the people and partnerships advancing permanently affordable homeownership in our community.
The event featured inspiring stories, as well as the presentation of the Community Impact Awards.
This memorable night was made possible by the generous support of our sponsors, whose commitment to our mission continues to create lasting change. We extend our heartfelt thanks to our lead sponsors – PNC, UNC Health, Taft Mills Group, Arch Mortgage Group, and Self-Help Credit Union – for helping make this celebration a success.
Together, through the generosity of our sponsors and supporters, we raised more than $30,000 to expand affordable housing opportunities.

CHT in the Community
We are honored to receive a $60,000 grant from First Citizens Bank! These funds will help support our growth as we prepare to welcome 260 new permanently affordable homes into our community land trust. We’re deeply grateful for their partnership and investment in affordable housing.
CHT Executive Director Kimberly Sanchez has been named a recommended candidate for the Grounded Solutions Network Board of Directors. Members can begin voting for the open seats on November 11.
Kimberly and CHT Vice President of Strategy and Operations Daniele Berman recently joined Randy Voller for the On the Porch podcast to talk about our work, the community land trust model, and all things affordable housing.
Kimberly also visited UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School to speak with real estate students about how the community land trust model creates and preserves affordable housing in high-cost markets like Chapel Hill and Orange County.
Meanwhile, Daniele participated in the NC Housing Table’s Policy Roundtable in Durham, contributing to important conversations about statewide housing challenges and solutions.
Kimberly and Daniele also joined representatives from CLTs across the state at a meeting of the North Carolina Community Land Trust Coalition in Asheville. This newly-formed coalition is united to share resources, shape housing policy, and help create more homes that stay affordable for generations.
