Our Commitment to Being an Anti-Racist Organization

At Community Home Trust, we know that Black and Brown Americans have historically often been excluded from opportunities to purchase safe, high-quality homes. As we work to provide affordable housing opportunities, we are also taking concrete steps to root out this deeply ingrained systemic injustice, and we demand the same of our business and community partners.

Saying “Black Lives Matter” is not enough. Saying we believe in equality is not enough. As an antiracist organization, we are proactive in seeking collaboration with real estate professionals– developers, realtors, appraisers, lenders, and others–who share our commitment to equity and inclusion, and we resist those who do not. If we encounter individuals or businesses who are discriminatory or who do not acknowledge historical and systemic oppression, we will call them out and report them to professional or accrediting organizations or regulating authorities, when necessary. We will get another appraisal, find another lender, or work with a different agent. We are committed to doing whatever we can to ensure all members of our community are treated fairly in their pursuit of affordable housing.
