Last week, we welcomed a new member of the CHT team: Calvin Burton, our new Development and Donor Relations Manager. In this role, he is responsible for developing strategies and implementing programs to raise funds in support of CHT’s mission and goals.

Calvin hopes to have the opportunity to meet many of you soon, but in the meantime, read on to get to know him a little bit!

Calvin describes himself as an “extroverting introvert.” He’s most happy when he’s able to connect and collaborate with like-minded, passionate individuals who love and care for the communities they live in. And that’s what excites him most about joining the staff at CHT. Says Calvin,

I decided to join CHT because it helps people build confidence in the home buying experience, giving them a chance at homeownership they otherwise think is impossible. It provides safe environments for families to raise their young kids with access to quality public education, it builds community by helping foster neighborly love and strong communal relationships, and it helps people save money so that they can focus on bettering themselves and meeting other life goals.

Helping people live their most meaningful lives and achieving their dreams is really what drives me — and homeownership is a major component in that journey. It helps create financial mobility in a way no other investment can by creating more predictability in monthly expenses, provides access to tax benefits, and helps people experience the pride of owning their own home.

I feel so honored to join a team of professionals working hard to help create equity and opportunity in affordable housing options for Orange County individuals and families.

When Calvin isn’t working, he’s reading or studying. He loves to learn new things! He also enjoys exploring the city with his partner and trying out lots of new food options. Calvin loves to sing and even went to school in Crawfordsville, Indiana on a music scholarship.
