Home News

It’s been a busy few weeks! Two families closed on their CHT homes (including the first of 17 Summit at Homestead townhomes), and three more are now under contract.

Four homes are currently available and being matched with approved buyers, with two additional resales and more new construction coming soon.

Construction on new condo development 1100 Columbia (pictured) is well on its way. This community, just south of UNC campus, will include 8 permanently affordable homes available through CHT. We anticipate the units will be available by early 2027.

CHT in the Community

In February, we launched a new partnership with DHIC to provide the homebuyer education services required for participants in our home buying program. CHT President and CEO, Kimberly Sanchez also joined Innovative Research Insights’ Housing Hangout in Winston-Salem to share how community land trusts (CLTs) can help address today’s housing challenges.

Looking ahead, CHT staff will attend the Total Wellbeing Expo for UNC system employees on Wednesday, March 18 to share information about our home buying program. That same day, Kimberly will participate in a webinar panel discussion with Grounded Solutions Network focused on long-term affordability in the rental market.

Then, on Friday, March 27, CHT staff will join partners from several organizations to break ground on the ambitious Homestead Gardens development. This event was rescheduled from January due to inclement weather.
