Last week, we celebrated World CLT Day with a new blogpost about a former CHT homeowner family and the 20th anniversary of the day they purchased CHT’s 100th home. If you missed it, check out this great story – along with their updated family photo! But this isn’t just a heartwarming story about one family: it’s also a great example of how one home in a community land trust can serve numerous families. As you’ll read in the post, this particular home will soon welcome its fourth owner!

In the meantime, I’ve been busy helping launch a new coalition of North Carolina community land trusts, which you can also read about here on our blog. And next week, my colleague Daniele and I are headed to the Grounded Solutions Network Housing Conference in Washington, D.C. Grounded Solutions Network is a national organization whose mission is to cultivate communities — equitable, inclusive and rich in opportunity — by advancing affordable housing solutions that last for generations. They are a tremendous resource for community land trusts across the country, and I am looking forward to connecting with CLT peers to learn and grow together.

I am grateful for all of these reminders of the tremendous impact of the community land trust model, balancing the wealth-building potential of homeownership with the community development goal of shared equity and permanent affordability. If you’d like to dig more into what that means, take a look our recent whitepaper, available as a free download here. Or reply to this email with your mailing address, and I’ll be happy to drop a printed copy in the mail to you.

And speaking of impact, many thanks to those of you who joined us for our “Nurturing Futures, Growing Communities” fundraiser at the North Carolina Botanical Garden last week! If you missed it, you can read more about it on our blog here and check out the video slideshow we shared, highlighting all the growth we’re anticipating in the next few years. We’re excited about the opportunity to add 260 new permanently affordable homes to our community and can’t wait to meet the neighbors who will call them home.

Thanks for being part of our community!
