Home Maintenance for CHT Homeowners
We are partnering with Chris and Mindy Meyers from the Home Repair Lab to offer a special free home maintenance class just for CHT homeowners on Tuesday, May 21 from 6 to 8:30 p.m.
In this 2.5-hour class, we will help you understand how your home operates, give you knowledge to interact with service providers, and help you be your own advocate. The class also is an opportunity to review the CHT Stewardship program.
Homeowners who attend the entire class receive a $5 reduction of their monthly Stewardship dues (a $60 annual value). Priority will be given to CHT homeowners who bought in 2022 or later and those who have not attended a class before.
We will also be giving away two gift certificates to classes at the Home Repair Lab!
Call to Action: Bond Advocacy
From the Orange County Affordable Housing Coalition:
The coming week will be pivotal in deciding the fate of affordable housing in our community as Chapel Hill council members deliberate on whether to put a bond on the ballot in 2024 or 2025 and how much of the bond funding to allocate to affordable housing.
Mayor Anderson scheduled a special meeting of Town Council for Friday, April 26, 8:30am at the Chapel Hill Library to consider these questions.
The Orange County Affordable Housing Coalition (OCAHC) is calling for our local leaders to meet the urgency of the affordable housing crisis with immediate action: to place the bond on the ballot in 2024 and to allocate $35 million to affordable housing.
Here’s how you can help:
Email Town Council at mayorandcouncil@townofchapelhill.org. Here are some talking points you can make your own:
The Town has identified a $50 million funding gap for affordable housing over the next five years. I am calling on you to prioritize this urgent community need.
An affordable housing bond cannot wait! We want an affordable housing bond on the 2024 ballot for voters to decide.
We need at least $35 million of the bond to go toward housing. Affordable housing matters to me because…
Respond to the Triangle Blog Blog survey to let the Town Council know your priorities. The survey will close on Wednesday.
Attend the Town Council meeting this Wednesday, April 24, 6:00pm at Town Hall, 405 MLK Blvd, Chapel Hill to speak during general public comment (at the beginning of the meeting). This is the only public comment opportunity before Friday’s work session, where critical decisions will be made. Let them know we need to prioritize the bond this year and we need at least $35 million to be allocated to housing. Share with them why affordable housing matters to you.
Join the Coalition at the upcoming House Us Now march on Saturday, May 4, 2pm at Peace and Justice Plaza, 179 E. Franklin Street, Chapel Hill. We’ll march to Hargraves Community Center.
