From Kimberly: Notes from Home

It feels like fall outside this week – and if it’s fall, that means it’s time for CHT’s biggest event of the year, our Annual Meeting and Block Party!

I hope you’ve already marked your calendar to join us on Sunday, September 29 from 3 to 6 p.m. at Southern Community Park in Chapel Hill. If you’ve joined us for past years’ events, you already know you don’t want to miss the live music, free food, fun activities, and awesome chance to catch up with neighbors and friends.

But this year, we’ve added a few new things you REALLY won’t want to miss!

  • Imagine Circus’s giant bubble performers will be creating amazing interactive bubble art for kids (and kids-at-heart) of all ages to enjoy!
  • Kona Ice will be serving up sweet treats and keeping us cool all afternoon!
  • Oxente Brazilian Arts drummers are guaranteed to get you up and dancing – bonus points if you can guess which CHT staff member is a founding member and will be performing with the band!
  • Our emcee for the program will be provided by our media partner, ABC11 – meet one of your favorite local news anchors in person!
  • Local nonprofit partners will be on site with information and activities so you can learn more about some of the awesome organizations in our community!
  • Plus all your favorites from past years will be back: live music with CHT homeowner Kevin Baker; face painting with Fun Faces by Sherry; delicious food to please all palates from Game Time Hot Dogs and Cubanita’s Delicacies; and lots of chances to connect and re-connect with neighbors and friends!

EVERYONE is welcome at this free party, whether you’re a CHT resident, a neighbor, a community member, a housing advocate, or just someone looking to connect with other folks at a fun party  – no RSVP required! But if you know you’re planning to join us, it’s very helpful for our planning to have you RSVP in advance (plus, this year you’ll get to skip to the front of the sign-in line if you have already RSVP’ed!). So don’t wait: mark your calendar now and submit your RSVP to save your spot for all the fun!

We’re so grateful to our sponsors who help us make this event happen, especially our Keys to the Home Title Sponsor, First Citizens Bank!

Thanks also to UNC Health; PNC; Trinsic Residential Group; The Graduate Hotel; Ashemont Title Insurance; Love Chapel Hill Church; Wegmans; Teresa Parker at Union Home Mortgage; Bagwell, Holt, and Smith; Caribou Coffee; and Bond Brothers Beer Company for your sponsorship support!

If you want to help make the event a success, it’s not too late to join in! We still need volunteers to help run the event and sponsors to make it happen – check out all the opportunities on our website!
