The Northside neighborhood is home to an abundant history of life after Reconstruction, under Jim Crow, during civil rights action, and in the wake of desegregation. Today, it is among the most racially, ethnically, and economically diverse neighborhoods in the region. Community Home Trust has 15 single family homes in this neighborhood that were developed through a cooperation between Community Home Trust, EMPOWERment, the Marian Cheek Jackson Center, Habitat for Humanity of Orange County, and Self Help Credit Union. Several are certified under Advanced Energy’s “System Vision” energy efficiency program. Northside is located next to downtown Chapel Hill. Homeowners can partake in community events, enjoy the Hargraves Community Center, and walk to Northside Elementary School.
