At Community Home Trust we always welcome an opportunity to come together and celebrate! Staff had the pleasure of enjoying an afternoon amongst our newest CHT homeowners, board members, CHT ambassadors, Durham tenants, and sponsors as we hosted our first ever new homeowner celebration.  

This gathering brought together our homeowners and tenants to connect with staff, board members, and CHT ambassadors to get to know each other better and celebrate their CHT homes.

The support of our sponsors, PlumbV and Teresa Parker at Union Home Mortgage, was instrumental in assisting CHT to put together the new homeowner celebration. Additionally, their support has directly impacted many of our homeowners through repairs and helping them get the mortgages necessary to purchase their homes. And we are grateful to the Horace Williams House in Chapel Hill for allowing us to host our event at their beautiful space!

It was wonderful to hear the experiences, joys, and gratitude of our homeowners as they shared their stories about the impact of CHT.  

Kelly Fox, a CHT ambassador and one of our newest homeowners, shared, “We had two almost opportunities for homes. But the third opportunity was Bridgepoint. And it was worth the wait. Absolutely worth the wait.” 

Veda Gilbert, another Bridgepoint homeowner, expressed her gratitude for the chance to build relationships with her neighbors: “I didn’t just get an incredible home. I got a best friend.” 

Mike Nicholson, also a CHT ambassador, recounted his and his wife Tina’s experience before finding their home with CHT: “We looked far and wide. We went all the way out to Graham, Burlington, Raleigh, Pittsboro, and North to Hillsborough for apartments because the rent was just going to be too high for us. We looked all over the place.” Mike and Tina worked with Teresa from Union Home Mortgage, one of the event sponsors. “We were able to move into Sonoma Way, this beautiful semicircle with 30 affordable townhomes in there. It’s gorgeous.”
