Welcome, Deja!
We are so excited to welcome Deja Gilmore, our new Program Coordinator, to the Community Home Trust team!
At CHT, Deja’s role is to work with our applicants, helping them understand the application process, find a home, and complete the approval and purchase process. Even after just a few weeks, Deja already especially loves the opportunities her role provides to meet and work directly with CHT homeowners.
Deja describes herself as a people person, and with her social work background, it comes as no surprise that she loves working with people. Her favorite person — her “pride and joy” — is her 10-year-old daughter Charlie. Deja was born and raised in Durham and has lived there almost her whole life, and she has seen all the changes that have happened in this area over the years. As a new homeowner herself and a former staff member with Durham Housing Authority, she also knows well the importance of homeownership and the challenges that homebuyers can face, especially in today’s housing market. That’s part of why she’s so excited to join the CHT team and support our applicants.
During her (admittedly rare!) free time, Deja enjoys shopping and doing arts and crafts. She also loves spending time with her family, especially with her mom and her eighteen-year-old brother who also live in Durham.
