Dear Subscriber,

It’s been over a week since more than 150 of you joined us for my favorite day of the year — and I’m still smiling! We couldn’t have asked for a better day for our 2023 Annual Meeting and Block Party!

On our website, you’ll find everything you’re looking for…

  • Our super fun recap video!
  • A photo album with over 300 photos and gifs — find yours and download them for free!
  • A link to the agenda and board slate approved at the meeting
  • A press release about our community award recipients: Taft-Mills Group, Robert Dowling, and CamiAnne Berreth
  • And a link to our Annual Report, hot off the presses at the meeting!

Here’s just a tiny glimpse at some of the fun:

Make sure you visit our website to see all the photos and the recap video.

I’m already getting excited about next year…thanks for the fun, CHT family!

Daniele Berman, Director of External Relations

P.S. Thanks again to all the sponsors who helped make this event such a success! See the whole list here.

Hot Off the Presses

Annual Meeting and Block Party attendees got the very first look at this year’s Annual Report. It’s filled with stories from our residents (including one very popular cat!), financial updates about the past year, and plans for the future.

If you missed it, don’t worry! You can read the full report online. And we’re happy to drop a printed copy in the mail for you if you’d like — just reply to this email!

Congratulations to our 2023 Community Award Recipients!

(L to R, above): Deanna Carson Memorial Good Neighbor Award: CamiAnne Berreth (accepted by her husband and children); Building Better Futures Award: Robert Dowling; Roger Perry Exceptional Innovation Award: Taft-Mills Group (accepted by CJ Tyree).

Welcome, Thea!

Please help us welcome our newest CHT team member, our Director of Philanthropy, Thea Cola! You can get to know Thea in her own words on our newest blogpost. Contact her by email anytime at tcola@communityhometrust.org .

Don’t Miss the Bus!

We still have a few seats left on our next bus tour, this coming Saturday, October 7 at 9 a.m. This free two-hour tour gives participants a chance to see some of the communities where we have homes. It’s free, but preregistration is required and space is very limited, so sign up today!

Financial Wellness Workshops

We are partnering with PNC to provide a series of 4 free financial wellness workshops during October and November, which are open to everyone. Topics are Understanding Credit Scores and Reports, Raising Money-Smart Kids, Spending and Savings Plan, and Homebuyer Seminar. In-person and online courses available. Register for one or all four!

The Orange County Affordable Housing Coalition, of which CHT is a member, recently sent a questionnaire to all candidates for mayor and council in Chapel Hill and Carrboro. You can read their responses on the Coalition’s website.
